Chicago is home to hundreds of wonderful neighborhood bakers, candy, confectionary, and specialty food companies.  Dubbed the "candy capital of the world," the Candy Institute in Chicago estimates candy and confectionery manufacturers in the Chicago metropolitan area support nearly 8,000 jobs, generate nearly $4 billion in shipments annually, and account for almost 16% of the total national confectionary production.
